There lives a bird up on a tree
He’s just like you, and just like me
He yearns to take flight and be free
But his broken wing can’t let him be
A few months pass and to his glee
He spreads his wings, takes off: Free.

FINALLY GOT A DESKTOP!!!
I must say that the specs are above average and so worth the 1.7k SGD that was forked out on it.
Just to let you know how good it is, it has virtually zero lag under the “Good” video effects settings for WOW at Dalaran, and 1920x resolution! HAHAHA!
Quick update, yeah.
All alone in the dark and walking the line
Laughter should be a crime
But I know that with your hand in mine
These tears will pass with time
The above verse is something I wrote after recieving my IB results. It reflects on the numerous days of preparation and studying that I put in, together with my extremely capable study buddy, Jaime. I’m so glad that she and I got the same grade! Her English score improved tremendously. I could never have survived during this period if you hadn’t some time to study together.
I won’t say much about my results, except that I’m really satisfied. I won’t be like some morons who get close to full-marks (not saying that I did get that score), but still whine endlessly. I’m grateful to God, for he sustained me during the most trying of times. I thank my family and of course, my wonderful friends, for any support given, however great or small.
All that’s left is applications, driving, and the dreaded NS.
Love is wonderful.
Yes. I have been off my blog for quite some time. 16 days to be exact. Spent 12 of those wonderous days in London and Paris. Shall post about it soon. Currently jet lagged. Obvious, judging from the fact that I’m still awake at 4.01am typing away with my dear brother playing WoW ecstatically in the corner of the room. Christmas dinner was marvelous. Cooked up my usual Thai Mussell Broth, Bacon Linguine with Garlic-infused oil and a No-Bake Cheesecake topped with fresh blueberries. Mommy bought a wonderful turkey and hunk of roast beef. The wonderous nosh was downed with the only thing my mother is able to make herself in a kitchen (that is, make properly): A Lychee Slushie.
Went to watch Sherlock Holmes. I thought it was wonderful, except for the fact that it tries too hard to be intellectual. It verges on the point of copying other detective movies (Agatha Christie ones to be precise) in the way the solution is structured. Robert Downey Jr. exudes charm and wit, backed up with his gruff yet loyal Watson. I shall watch it again with Seraphicera next week, as well as Avatar (which I have yet to catch). I give it 3.5/5, because I find it a bit too unbelievable and rather much like fantasy most of the time, even though there were scientific explanations and all.
Shan’t give away any spoilers about my trip as it must be revealed in all it’s glory with pictures and detail which frankly, I don’t feel up to giving as of now, what with my increased laziness (a side-effect of the holidays I’m afraid).
I will say this though:
Holy Cow I’ve gained weight. I’M THE COW!
I found this pile of crap on my facebook wall:

Here’s what I have to say.
You are all pretty stupid. She was raised a Catholic and if she’s supposed to be like, a cult-worshipper, why is she referencing so many “gods”. Shouldn’t she like pay homage to one, and just stick to it? You guys are looking for things that aren’t there.
ROMA is not a reference to anything, other than romance. The deer heads are not burnt cause it’s only the bed that gets consumed by flame. OBVIOUSLY?
The bat hairpiece she wore was designed by a japanese guy. Oh right, he’s supposed to be a whatever baphocrap worshipper too? So because she wore an elephant one in her Japanese TV performance of Pokerface, she worships some elephant god too? Does that mean if I were to walk out in the streets with a Tiger T-Shirt or animal mask, I’m a freaking cult worshipper? Please get a life. If you know nothing about fashion, it’s probably because you are spending too much time searching for symbols that aren’t there.
The sign of the cross she makes was over-interpreted. She was raised CATHOLIC you morons. Plus, if you looked at it from a literature perspective, it makes complete sense. She is trying to keep her innocence, turning to God. She even said herself that the bath is symbolic of washing away your sins. The large eyes also represent innocence. Not because of the horrors of the music industry, but because of the type of “romance” she’s getting into.
If you actually took the time to look AT THE SONG and not your crap, you’ll realise that the video is trying to show you that only in a bad romance can you treat her in such a manner, even making her “want you in [her] rear window”. If you try to force her, like the Russian mafia in the video, you’ll get nothing from her, and end up being destroyed. Even though the guy paid for her, because she doesn’t give it up willingly, he perishes.
All this crap about sacrifices and symbols is for people who seriously have no life and are trying to make truly talented and successful people appear to be crackpots. Maybe if you watched her interviews more often you’ll see she’s just a down-to-earth and fillial girl living her dream. All this crap about her selling her soul to the industry is seriously lame. remember, you are writing about a girl who used the advance from her 2nd album to help her father pay for his heart surgery.
There is such a thing as being totally paranoid.
Grow up. You’re in the real world.
Dumbasses.
Just came back and passed my Basic Theory Evaluation, so essentially I qualify to take the actual test. It was so freaking easy. Finished 70 questions in around 8 minutes and had 2 mistakes. Seriously freaking excited about getting my provisional driver’s licence.
I loved my belated birthday cake! It was a blueberry yoghurt cake and it was AMAZING! Intestinal orgasm. Oh Yeah! Shall post the pictures when I edit this post.
Meeting up with my classmates for a BBQ. Heading to school then to East Coast Park. Yummers! Must take lots of photos~
Been in a very good mood lately. Surrounded by good music, good food, good family, good friends and good movies. I’m so sunshiney it would make even the happiest person puke in disgust :X
Going out for the next couple of days. Need to catch up with everyone!!!
Disco Heaven.
I guess today was pretty decent. Passed all 4 of my Basic Theory Test practices with 5 minutes to spare. Made 6 errors I think. Pretty good considering I only started studying yesterday. Ha ha ha.
Caught Ninja Assassin. I truly believe that if there had been more effort put into the script and more useful characters, it might actually have been a true success. Why do I say this? There was only one major villain, 2 main characters and 1 supporting character. The rest were just superfluous beings meant to contribute to the limitless pile dismembered limbs that were splattered everywhere. Seriously. It doesn’t hurt that Rain can actually act. The action scenes were realistic. The special effects weren’t. Good attempt, considering the script was rewritten in 60 hours. I give it 2.9/5. It doesn’t warrant a distinction, but neither does it deserve a failing grade. And what is it with the recent movies and their need to display unattainable male physiques. Insecurities x infinity.

Rain working out for the movie
I mean come on. What normal person can live on steamed skinless chicken and steamed vegetables for 8 months all day? Well apparently Rain can. That, and 8 hours of training (most of which comprised of learning various martial arts) a day for 5 days a week, resulted in him possessing a 0% body fat count. Holy crap. I swear once I get back from Europe, it’s nothing but cheese cubes (for protein and of course to curb hunger) and water and lots and lots of running. I guess there is hope for Asians after all. HAHAHAHA!
Still hooked on Lady Gaga.

The Fame Monster Promo Photo
Catch her interview with Barbara Walters, which will be aired on 9th December. She has been ranked one of the the world’s top 10 Most Fascinating People. And obviously, I agree. I wonder what really goes on in that wig-decorated head of hers apart from sex, music, her family and her little monsters.
Heading off for my belated birthday dinner in a few hours. Can’t wait. :X MOSCATO!!!
Need to start lifting weights. Urgh.
I know it’s uber late, but I’m still up studying for my Basic Theory Test (in driving, duh?) with The Simpsons on loop in the background and my brother snoring in bed. Decided to post something to take my mind of signs and road behaviour. I hate studying. Is it even possible to have stress post-IB?
Gaga did much better in her later concerts in Ottawa and Toronto than in Montreal.
Check out more videos online!
I wonder what she’ll have planned next for a music video. Something as epic (or even moreso) than Bad Romance I hope. By the way, http://gagadaily.com has become my second home. Love how they are so up-to-date with new pics, clips, interviews and chart performances. Keep up the awesome job fanatics!
Been watching New Moon non-stop. Yeah I know it’s kinda like soft-core porn and all (particularly in Book 4), but it’s just so damn fun(ny) to read and watch. I literally burst out laughing inappropriately cause I’m just so caught up in how ludicrous certain scenes can be. While the novels lack any sort of originality in terms of plot, Meyer sure knows how to craft detailed characters.
I guess I better go cram just a bit more info on into my sluggish brain. Slogging through 12 years of regimented, boring and tedious standardized tests can take it’s toll on you. Thank God that’s over (for now anyway). But then again, all this boredom and tedium is worth it, considering that I’ll be able to have a more independent and effective means of transport to get around. I hate being helpless and treated like a child.
So Happy I Could Die

I bought The Fame Monster!
I finally bought it! So awesome! The cover art was genius. I am finally able to import the tracks in HD, and stop listening to the downloaded crap. I fully believe in supporting artistes who deserve it. Never download from artistes you like. You are making them lose money, and lowering their incentives to continue making music. Plus, The Fame Monster as an individual album is really cheap! US$7.99 on iTunes. Together with The Fame, the deluxe set of 23 songs is only US$13.99. Got my Deluxe CD for about S$16.65, which was really really cheap for that many songs.
In any case, the album scores a 4.5/5 for me. I knocked off half a mark cause her tracks are not immediately listenable and take some time to appreciate. But once one does, it’s one helluva disc. ‘Teeth’ took a while to grow on me, cause it lacked a conventional melody. But I now appreciate it’s bluesy and simultaneously gothic vibe “Show me your teeth!” ‘So Happy I Could Die’ could do with a good remix to give it more bass. I found it rather thin, particularly at the chorus. It was somehow anticlimactic because one would expect Gaga to chuck in the dance beats and booming percussions that many of her hits possessed into the chorus, but instead, come accross a decent melody that still lacked that punch & crunch. What would have been more effective in my opinion would be if the percussions in the introduction were carried forward into the chorus, instead of being lifted out.
However, the rest of the tracks are great. I thought ‘Speechless’ was too fast in tempo, but after listening to it on my earphones, the track sounded more complete and whole than on my crappy labtop speakers. You can actually hear the emotion in her voice, and also appreciate the growls she inserts appropriately into this rock ballad.
Frankly, it’s no wonder she is currently #1 on the Singles Chart (Bad Romance), #1 on the Music Videos Chart (Bad Romance), and #1 and #3 on the Albums Chart for The Fame Monster and The Fame Monster Deluxe respectively on iTunes. Buy it. NOW!

Heartbeats Earphones. Sexy?
The CD came with an advertisement for Lady Gaga’s Heartbeats. They are HD in-ear earphones that have eartips which block noise, and deliver dance songs with the extra ‘oomph!’ one seeks. Good for headbanging I reckon? Doesn’t hurt that they look good too, and have anti-tangle wires. I want a bright chrome or red chrome one. They look fugly in black. But the trouble is, in Singapore they are S$240, but after doing currency conversions, if one bought them in US, they’d cost S$135 (US$99.95). The local mark up is ridiculous. Even inclusive of a shipping fee, it’s much cheaper to just order them online. I wonder if they sell them in Europe or the UK.
Caught snippets of “The Monster Ball” on YouTube! It opened in Montreal, Canada. I really have to reiterate this statement: Lady Gaga is a mad woman and a genius!

Lady Gaga commences the concert with my favourite song, 'Dance In The Dark'!

Lady Gaga in an Anubis outfit while singing 'Fashion'

More of her Anubis fashion!

Inspiration from skeletons and bones?

I'd kill to be the middle dancer! See where is hand is! :X
Gaga in another awesome costume!

Lady Gaga is really HOT!

Alien Hairdo and Deformed Shoulder Pads were the ensemble for her final act, 'Bad Romance'.

It looks freaking amazing. The diamond-structured stage with a forced perspective was really stunning. The set changes, costumes and OF COURSE the Music were amazing. She did fall while performing ‘Teeth’ but honestly, after all that rigorous choreography, you can’t blame her for buckling her knees. The set-list was really long too! She even performed ‘Fashion’, a track she penned for Ugly Betty, and then for Confessions of a Shopaholic, in an Egyptian-inspired outfit.

The New Moon Poster. Taylor Launter, the dude in the middle, Hulked up for the part.
Caught New Moon a couple of times. I’d give it 3.8/5. As much as I love the series, I can’t say that the movie was excellent. I admit it certainly made the most boring book of the series bearable though. I found the movie too dreary at times, and the lead actors seem to be one-trick ponies that can only portray one emotion. For instance, I thought Robert Pattinson looked constipated throughout the movie. The action scenes were amazing though, and I really loved how Ashley Greene had a larger role than in the previous movie. She’s really stunning. Needless to say, this sequel was way better than Twilight, filled with more humour and depth. Twilight was too sombre, filmed in blue shades, but I guess it was to set the premise of the gloomy atmosphere that resides over Forks. I really commend the cinematographer of New Moon for actually applying golden hues into the film as this reflects the warmth of the Quileute tribe, and how it tries to allow Bella’s heart to heal. Kudos to him for that!
Also, I can’t believe that a kid, younger than me, put on 30 lbs of muscle for a part in the movie in just one year. That’s freaking scary. Apparently he trained 2 hours a day for 5 days a week. Now that’s dedication. Insecurities. Oh well, I’ll get there someday (I hope). National Service to the rescue!

My Driving Student Card!
Started my Basic Theory lessons in driving. Am so stoked! Can’t wait to pass the test and get my provisional driver’s licence! Then I can skip merrily to my crummy practice car and learn the real deal!
I’m gonna meet up with Charvi and Seraphicera next Friday for Kboxing and possibly a movie. Should try to meet up with the other gang soon. Kah Wei’s already started working and the girls have a teaching attachment in January.
Quite excited about going to Europe. I really want to try the food. Not that I haven’t already, but still, I’m just too damn excited! I wonder what I’ll pack there. Something tells me an MP3 player, my driver’s manual and a pencil box are gonna be my best friends during the trip.
She A-A-Ate my Heart.
I missed all 6 chances. No more Gaga CD Hamper. Freaking pissed. Don’t F with me right now.
I really hope 91.3FM has more than 6 of those damn hampers. I wonder if they sell them.
Screw it.
